Buy this book! The smaller size (6 by 6.5 inches) allows you to pop it into your purse with a pencil. There is practice space right in the book after each flower instruction, so there is no need to bring along a tablet or practice paper. With this book’s mini size, now you can read and practice drawing flowers when you have just a couple minutes, sitting before an appointment or have time in your car. I like how the author breaks down step by step how to complete a drawing. You will find her straight forward and in short order, you will be drawing flowers when after flower. This book packs a punch at 109 pages, so don’t think mini means short on content. She has several other titles you can check out if you enjoy her style and approach.

The binding in this flower book has issues. I had pages separate and I had to tape them together. I did not choose to return the book. Also, I found one typo on page 15 where the label "S curve" was not printed out onto the page. I just wrote it in myself.I think this book is fine for practice. I do think it's too wordy and there's not enough space for actually sketching. If the goal is to practice sketching... then leave more space for sketching and maybe put all the steps onto the 2 open pages that you'll be working on so that you're not flipping back-and-forth - trying to sketch what's being described or being shown on multiple pages.Also, I would take out unnecessary steps where you're teaching people how to space with lines that you later have to erase. I think it's important to just mimic what you're looking at.Anyway, overall, it's a pretty good book, but I do prefer her children's books better for just daily sketch practice I think the kids books are wonderful and the binding is perfect in the kids books and they're a perfect size. As you would expect the kids books have very few words, which seems to be how a how a practice sketchbook should be no matter the age intended.Over all her modern florals book is... Not so bad :/I still give this book 5 stars bc I know the amount of work it takes to bring this to fruition. Hope this feedback helps fix issues with future copies of this book.

This book does a great job of breaking down the steps of drawing flowers. After doing about six of them, I was able to take my new skills out into nature and felt like I could actually put something on the page I was proud of.
