Watercolor Workbook: Flowers, Feathers, and Animal Friends

This watercolor tutorial booklet has been around for quite some time and sadly, in my shopping list for longer.I came across it accidentally watching a creator that I follow on UTube and she had nothing but great things to say about it as well as everyone else in the comments section.Well, I finally purchased it a few days ago and all the comments/reviews are SPOT ON!You can’t beat the price compared to the exceptional quality of watercolor paper (for your lessons) included within the comfort of these book pages. The first to the last picture shows the quality.Self-explanatory, easy to follow, and definitely a self-care, relaxation, and escape all rolled into one neat binding keepsake that will be used even after all the lessons have been completed.I am thankful and grateful that I waited until now to purchase because if I had purchased it at the beginning of learning years ago, I wouldn’t have appreciated it as much and NOW, I DO!

Paper quality is good

Just purchased this watercolor book as a christmas gift and the paper is very good quality. It's just as described, but one thing I will say is that shipping kept getting delayed and the item came damaged.

I bought this because I’ve always wanted to learn watercolor but I know I wouldn’t stick to following along in an academic style book so I bought this one since you’re learning to paint the basics and it’s in the same book as the instructions. Now all I can think of is getting home in the evenings to practice and paint. Don’t be intimidated, the author does an amazing job teaching you with simple to follow allow instructions and pre-drawn nature images to paint.

Fabulous work book. I'm fairly new to watercolor and recently bought the Kai 30 color portable that came with a brush that has a water tank on it. I sort of jumped the gun here after reading some basics and went to the luna moth page. On the left is a color chart to follow and directions on the right page is where the student makes an attempt to paint the moth.I found this book after much searching and comparing on Amazon and it is worth it I must say! Great value for an exceptional product. Would recommend.

I love Sarah's tutorials. I have included a picture of one I painted and then incorporated into a journal spread.

This is the animal focused sequel to Sara Simon's Botanical Watercolor workbook, Vol 1. I just loved the succulents and cat project. How can you resist a fluffy cat lounging on a computer keyboard surrounded by succulent hens and chicks! The Lilies and Koi color palette evokes a peaceful water garden in greens and gray with pops of yellow and white. Paint a whimsical dinosaur with a cape of colorful flowers. The directions are clear and concise. You can paint right onto the thick absorbent watercolor pages. The color graphics and color mixing directions are priceless. Sarah's workbooks are especially useful when traveling. Just pack a paintbrush and a travel paint set and go!

What Sarah has created here is something truly magical. She draws images that you really want to paint! The next step is not only how to paint it (which she gives the reader those instructions), but the color palette. And I think that's one of the things that Sarah does especially well. She has created the most beautiful and impactful color palettes. Once you put these lovely elements together, you really have the opportunity to not only play and explore watercolor, but to create something you love! The book itself is meant to be used and enjoyed and studied and filled in with your work!(Oh, and I understand the watercolor paper she chose was her top choice out of 500 different papers! And it shows ~ the watercolor paper is a dream and handles wet on wet extraordinarily well!)

I pre-ordered this book because it has two of my favorite things: cats and florals! And I absolutely love this watercolor book!! It's inspired me to paint again. When you just want to paint, this is the book for you! Each watercolor page is so vibrant with the examples! As far as the instructions, easy to follow. Thanks Sarah Simon for making this book :)!

This workbook is my second in Sarah's series of watercolor workbooks. Like the first, I find it easy to jump right in and begin my watercolor painting. Love this watercolor workbook! I’m a beginner and had no clue where to start. A friend of mine took watercolor classes and I always wanted to but was intimidated. This book was amazing. I felt like I could learn at my own pace and had all of the tips and tolls to get started. I love how accessible this workbook is and the invitation to start with what you have. I have recommended this book to friends. Can’t wait for the next one!

Do yourself a favor and go buy one (or 2 or 3) of these and all her other workbooks too. It’s full of easy to follow instructions, actual watercolor paper so you can paint directly into the book, and she uses easy to access materials while teaching you to mix colors so you don’t have to go out and buy too much (unless you just want to). This book is full of all of the beautiful botanicals Sarah is known for, but this time with a little wildlife too!I love every moment I get to sit down to paint with Sarah, whether it’s in her book, following along with her videos, or live classes. She has a way of making watercolor fun no matter what experience level you are at. Enjoy!

When I say “best watercolor workbook in existence” I mean truly, the best. How smart, this author is, to include watercolor pages to practice on. Then, taking a step-by-step tutorial approach, it’s like Sarah herself is there guiding each stroke and splash of pigment. It’s genius! Truly, anyone can paint with her beautiful, thorough, and easy to follow instruction. She has thought of everything which makes this book the best to learn techniques, to use as therapy (who can get frustrated when there’s no room to feel inadequate?!), and to create beautiful art just like the talented Sarah Simon. I will savor completing this book and sit impatiently in anticipation of her workbooks to come.

Absolutely the best instructional workbook for water color painting. My friends and I have enjoyed this book so much we formed a group who meet every 3 weeks to paint together. So much fun and sooo easy to follow. Sarah's technique for teaching is unparalleled. Thank you so much!

Beautiful images and easy to follow instructions make for a relaxing, almost joyous experience. This is the second of Sarah's workbooks that I have purchased and the finished projects from both get so many compliments from my family and friends. Can't say enough good things about this workbook!

This is watercolor workbook is amazing.I often want to paint something quickly but don’t have time to sketch properly and then paint . I love that she has included the sketch’s ,that way I can just paint. The paper in this workbook works well I enjoy it. The directions are wonderful also the color recipes are the best .

I am new to water coloring and bought book one which I loved! Workbook number two is another treat, which I’m very excited to dive into.

I love Sarah Simon’s books and classes. Her Art Work is amazing and is so friendly when you are a beginner. From mixing colors and learning basic techniques so you can be the creator of a masterpiece. You must have her books!

I’ve been painting with watercolor for a few years now so I already have my own method of painting, but Sarah’s workbook is great to learn a different technique and not have to plan out a whole painting when you just need to paint and don’t have something in mind.With that said, it’s also great for beginners as she breaks down each step and provides detailed instruction, techniques, water/color ratios and color recipes!

This is the second book I get from Sarah Simon. The first one gave me the confidence to start putting color to paper without being afraid. This second book is just as easy to follow and the artwork is so fun! I love that not only does she give you the instructions, but she also gives the color recipes, and a reference illustration so you can follow it (or not!). I absolutely love her work and recommend it to everyone who wants to start but is intimidated!
